The 2023 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) will feature sessions on artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technology. Speakers will be drawn from across the Asia Pacific region including Nepal, Indonesia, Australia and the Philippines, and represent a diverse cross section of the multi-stakeholder community.
The event program, released today, features a range of sessions on topics including the challenges of digital accessibility, cyber security and governance in an ever-evolving internet.
APrIGF will be held in Brisbane, Australia from 29-31 August 2023. The forum is a hybrid event, with in-person and online participation, and all members of the community are encouraged to register and participate free of charge.
“auDA is delighted to host this year’s APrIGF, which focuses on Is the Asia Pacific ready for the next phase of the internet?”, said auDA CEO Rosemary Sinclair AM.
“AI and other emerging technologies are rapidly transforming the way we live and work. The APrIGF 2023 will provide a multi-stakeholder platform for us to discuss how these technologies can enhance the lives of internet users in the Asia Pacific.”
One of the sessions proposed by the Digital Law and Policy Centre will focus on the responsible innovation of AI. The session will explore the ethical and legal challenges of AI, and how these challenges can be addressed to support sustainable economic growth.
Another session led by the International Telecommunication Union will look at the use of AI and gender, exploring how we can develop policies to reduce discrimination, stereotyping and exclusion.

The 2023 APrIGF is expected to attract hundreds of delegates from the multi-stakeholder internet community across the Asia Pacific region, including government officials, civil society representatives, industry leaders, technical experts and academics. The event will be a hybrid format, allowing both virtual and in-person participation.
