The 72nd meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will be held as a virtual Annual General Meeting from 25-28 October 2021.
auDA is committed to the multi-stakeholder approach for Internet governance and we consider our participation at ICANN an important contribution to maintaining an open, free and secure global Internet. Accordingly, auDA will be in attendance at ICANN72 and will participate in Country Code Names Supporting Organisation (ccNSO) and cross-community sessions. auDA staff also actively participated in two pre-ICANN ccNSO sessions in early October.
ICANN is the organisation responsible for the coordination of the global domain name system. It operates on a multi-stakeholder model, where registries, registrars and other domain industry stakeholders, participate alongside technical and civil society stakeholders, and governments. These stakeholder groups all provide advice to ICANN’s Board, which makes decisions based on this advice.
From 13-15 October, ICANN will run a series of sessions that aim to improve community preparation for ICANN 72. These include sessions for newcomers, and updates on policy, planning, finance, and review implementation.
ICANN meetings are open to all interested stakeholders. Those interested must register in advance https://events.icann.org/ICANNEventsPortal/icannmeetings/portal. The full meeting schedule and any session materials can be found at https://72.schedule.icann.org/. Please note, it will be held in Seattle local time (GMT-7) and recordings of each session are made available on the website soon after the event.
You can find the recordings of the pre-ICANN ccNSO sessions here.
