auDA launches inaugural Australian Internet Governance Academy to empower tomorrow’s digital leaders

The .au Domain Administration (auDA) today launches the inaugural Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy Australia (APIGA Australia), an intensive two day event to be held in Melbourne over 20-21 November 2024.

Hosted by auDA in collaboration with regional and global partners, the two day intensive residential program will empower participants with the knowledge to engage in global discussion on the governance of the internet and develop the next generation of leaders in internet governance.

APIGA Australia 2024 is for students and early career professionals aged 18-35 from diverse academic and career backgrounds. No previous internet governance experience is required.

Those interested are encouraged to apply now.

auDA CEO Rosemary Sinclair AM said, “APIGA Australia will offer participants the ability to build their networks and engage with global experts and leaders in internet governance.

“Through this program, auDA seeks to empower and enable more young Australians to engage in global internet governance processes.”

Top participants will have the opportunity to receive a fully funded fellowship to attend the regional APIGA program in South Korea in 2025. Alumni from the program will also be well placed to engage in other global internet governance events.

The program is the inaugural Australian Chapter of the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy, run annually in South Korea by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Korean Internet and Security Agency (KISA) and regional government organisations.
