The 81st Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN81) Policy Forum recently concluded in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Policy Forum is the third and final meeting in ICANN’s annual cycle and is also the body’s Annual General Meeting. The meeting continued the year’s focus on advancing the policy development work of Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees (SO/ACs). Through ICANN’s bottom-up, consensus-driven model, this gathering provided a valuable platform to solidify and progress internet policy priorities from across the year.

Members of the auDA team attended ICANN81 alongside representatives from the Australian Government and the Australian internet community, contributing to discussions on the future of the global internet.

Join our upcoming webinar to hear about the key issues addressed at ICANN81 and gain insights into the major takeaways from this year’s final Policy Forum.

Speakers

  • Annaliese Williams, auDA Specialist Policy Adviser and a committee chair in the Country Code Name Supporting Organization (ccNSO), will host a panel with:
  • Ian Sheldon, Australian Government, reporting from the Government Advisory Committee (GAC)
  • Justine Chew, APRALO Member, reporting from the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)
  • Ram Mohan, Identity Digital, reporting from the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC)
  • Ashley Heineman, reporting from the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO).

About ICANN meetings

ICANN meetings have been central to ICANN’s multi-stakeholder model since its formation in 1998. They provide a forum for learning about ICANN, advancing policy work, conducting outreach, exchanging best practices, conducting business, and interacting with members of the ICANN community, Board and organisation.

The meetings are designed to meet a diverse range of needs for ICANN’s Committees, staff, and newcomers alike.
