auDA will host this year’s Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) in Brisbane over 29-31 August 2023.
The event, along with a range of complementary events, including Australia’s own Internet Governance Forum, NetThing, brings valuable opportunities for Australia’s internet governance community, including:
- The chance to participate directly in discussion of a wide range of internet policy and governance topics, to learn more and to share perspectives, without high travel times and costs
- The ability to connect with the region – participants from around Asia Pacific will take part, online and in the room, presenting a great chance to build connections with people from further afield
- An excellent opportunity to find out more about an array of internet subjects you’re interested in, whether you’re new to the field or already an expert.
APrIGF session proposals open until 14 May
The APrIGF program will be developed based on suggestions made by the public.
This year’s theme for the forum is "Emerging technologies – is Asia Pacific ready for the next phase of the internet?”, with the sub-themes of “Access and inclusion”, “Sustainability” and “Trust”.
The call for session proposals is open until Sunday 14 May 2023 (23.59 UTC). If you have an idea for a discussion related to the theme then please submit your ideas prior to deadline!
APrIGF fellowship applications open until 11 May
The APrIGF also provides fellowship opportunities to enhance diversity at the Forum by supporting participation of underrepresented communities. This support is usually in the form of subsidised travel and / or accommodation to allow in-person participation.
Fellows are selected by the Fellowship Committee to represent diversity across a range of factors including gender, country and representation across academia, civil society, government, the private sector, technical stakeholders and students.
Applications are open to those who are new and return fellows. Fellows are provided financial support to attend the Forum with full and partial fellowships available, determined by the Fellowship Committee.
