edu.au domain names

Registrations in the edu.au namespace are exclusively available to education or training entities both recognised and operating in Australia.

This includes schools, universities and higher education institutions, TAFEs, registered training organisations, early learning centres, peak bodies, and professional associations.

The full list of entities eligible for an edu.au domain name is set out in Schedule A Part 2 of the .au Licensing Rules.

The edu.au domain name you choose must be closely related to the name of your organisation, or a formal project or program your organisation runs.

Along with national level edu.au domain names, you can also register a state or territory-based domain name such as vic.edu.au to reflect the jurisdiction your organisation is registered or currently operating in.

edu.au domain names can be registered at domainname.edu.au, which is operated by Education Services Australia Ltd. (ESA).

ESA is a national, not-for-profit company owned by all Australian education ministers, and is the only registrar permitted to register edu.au domain names.
